Day 89

THIN SPACE

This week, Prayer Hour is all about justice, focusing in on a whole bunch of Manchester-based, Jesus-loving, Social Justice movements, aiming to punch holes in the darkness of our world to allow God’s love, God’s justice, God’s Kingdom to come pouring through.

Today we are going to be talking about the work of the Message Enterprise Centre and The Oaks.

Message Enterprise Centre

Many of us are familiar with the Message Enterprise Centre (MEC) in Sharston, which helps people rebuild their lives through socially responsible business. Whilst planning is underway for the re-opening of the businesses (café/catering and hair and beauty), the team are participating in Love Wythenshawe by cooking and delivering meals to 150 homes to people who may otherwise not get a good meal. Capacity is being increased to 500 throughout July and August and possibly beyond. And during the week of 9-16 August the team will be working in the community with local churches, helping with gardening and practical tasks and sharing Jesus’ love. Volunteers are welcome!

The Oaks

The Oaks
is part of the MEC and is a resettlement home in Wythenshawe for up to 8 men who are vulnerable, frequently straight out of prison and not ready for employment but want to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus. After being in The Oaks for 12-18 months they are able to move into employment in the MEC and shared housing.

Matthew 25:40 Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

Prayer

Please thank God for these opportunities to share his love and pray that many people in Wythenshawe will encounter him. Pray for the men in The Oaks that they will know him more deeply and know just how much he loves them.
